The community, naturally, holds a certain level of expectation when as fans of the series, we're equally excited, but also not getting our hopes all the way up. The movie takes a much darker and more violent tone than the series which i believe works to express what caused kenshin to go through such a big transformation. The movie deviates from the original story in many critical ways, especially at the end, and is best seen as a showcase for the special effects and stunt teams, who do an excellent job throughout.
